Kim Jong Un crosses the Yalu River bridge as he seeks to rebalance ties between China and Russia

Kim Jong Un arrived in Dandong, China, on October 24, 2026, crossing the new Yalu River bridge, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported. It is his first visit to China since travelling to Beijing in September 2025, where he met Xi Jinping and attended a military parade alongside Vladimir Putin. The visit comes as Beijing and Pyongyang seek to revive trade, following years in which Kim had focused more heavily on ties with Russia. Officials have not disclosed his itinerary or announced a meeting with Xi Jinping.
