Eastern Mediterranean Region faces gloomy situation of war, pandemic

Health emergency reports from the Eastern Mediterranean reveal a dire situation. In Yemen, escalation since August 6 has resulted in 3,672 casualties, including 674 deaths, with over 130,000 internally displaced and 3,500 crossing into Djibouti. In Gaza, more than half of health facilities are partially functional, and 47% of essential medicines are out of stock. The region faces ongoing conflicts, disease outbreaks, and food insecurity, with significant population movements increasing demand for health services in countries like Afghanistan and Sudan.
