NLC Issues Land Acquisition Notices in Machakos, Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot

Kenya’s National Land Commission (NLC) announced compulsory land acquisitions for infrastructure projects in Machakos, Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties. The notices include a 124-kilometre road project linking Barpello, Tot, Sigor and Marich Pass, with compensation inquiries scheduled from November 10 to 27, 2026. In Machakos, the commission plans to acquire 0.0678 hectares from Muka Mukuu Farmers Co-operative Society for the Mwala Cluster Water Supply project; an inquiry is set for November 4 at Donyo Sabuk. Affected parties must submit compensation claims, identification, land ownership records and bank account details.
