Bauchi APM in Crisis as Faction Suspends Chairman

The APM, the ruling party in Bauchi State, is facing an internal crisis after a faction of its executives suspended chairman Auwal Isah. The faction’s secretary, Mohammed Nasir Yahaya, cited alleged financial-accountability and record-keeping failures and constitutional violations, and said Nasiru Nuru Marafa had been named interim chairman. Yahaya linked the dispute to changes in the party’s executive list after Governor Bala Mohammed and former PDP members joined the APM, as well as a proposed allocation of 70 per cent of leadership posts to the state government and 30 per cent to original members. Another faction disputes Yahaya’s claim to be party secretary and says the party will issue a response.
