Carrick stays, but senior Man Utd figures concerned by performances — report

Michael Carrick is expected to lead Manchester United against Bournemouth on Sunday despite senior club figures’ concerns following the 4-1 loss to Como and a seven-match winless run. United has begun identifying possible successors, including Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte and Julian Nagelsmann, while Unai Emery and Fabian Hurzeler are also admired. Bruno Fernandes questioned Carrick’s tactics, and some club figures described the players’ effort levels as concerning, although others believe the coach deserves more time. Appointed permanently in May after winning 12 of 17 games as interim manager, Carrick had guided United back to the Champions League after a two-year absence.
