Space Nuclear: SpaceX Propels City Labs' BOHR Satellite into Orbit

On July 7, 2026, SpaceX launched City Labs' BOHR satellite aboard a Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-17 mission from Vandenberg, California. BOHR is the first commercial spacecraft authorized to carry a nuclear power source, a tritium betavoltaic battery called NanoTritium. The FAA granted authorization in September 2025 under the NSPM-20 memorandum. This system aims to overcome dependency on solar panels, especially for lunar and deep space missions.
