Burkina Faso: More than 18 traditional medicines now recognized for use

More than 18 traditional medicines have been approved in Burkina Faso, according to the Ministry of Health, during the 14th National Week of Traditional and Alternative Medicine. The World Health Organization states that over 80% of the Burkinabè population regularly uses traditional medicine. The state has established a framework to organize this practice, recognized in the Public Health Code since 1994. Scientific research, particularly through the Institute of Research in Health Sciences, supports this valorization by assessing the quality and efficacy of the products.
