Foumban: 11-year-old beaten to death over a plum

On June 12, 2026, in Foumban, western Cameroon, 11-year-old Nji Marouane was beaten to death by an adult neighbor after a dispute over a plum that had fallen from a tree. The boy allegedly refused to return the fruit to the neighbor's son, leading to the adult's intervention. The child died from his injuries and was buried a few hours later. The suspect fled with the help of his brother, who advised him to dispose of his phone SIM card.
