Mali is holding national funerals in honor of General Sadio Camara, Minister of State and Minister of Defense, who died on April 25, 2026. The ceremonies are taking place at the military base of the 34th Engineering Battalion, attended by transitional authorities, following a decree from President General Assimi Goïta. Camara succumbed to injuries sustained during coordinated attacks targeting his residence in Kati, leading to a two-day national mourning starting April 27.
