A Senegalese trawler that left Dakar on October 22 capsized and sank on the night of October 30–31, 2026, 36 kilometres off Cap Skirring in Guinea-Bissau’s territorial waters. Twelve of the 13 people aboard were rescued after the vessel overturned while its crew was hauling in nets: a Philippine-flagged tanker bound for Angola rescued three, and a local fishing pirogue also helped. A Guinea-Bissau fisheries inspector who went into the water during the capsize remains missing. A judicial investigation has been opened in Cap Skirring.
