‘I can’t die like this’: flydubai pilot recounts cockpit attack

Indian pilot Smit Machchhar told Sky News Arabia about being attacked with an axe in the cockpit of a flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv. Injured in the head and hand, he tried to open the cockpit door to let another pilot in before the aircraft plunged. The UAE attorney general said the 29-year-old Omani co-pilot planned a suicide attack on the Ben Gurion Airport terminal, though investigators are still checking whether he acted alone. Another pilot on board, assisted by a crew member and passengers, subdued the attacker and regained control, and the plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.

Israeli Settlers Attack European Diplomats and Beat French Mayor

Masked Israeli settlers attacked a group of European diplomats in the West Bank on Saturday and beat Bernard Baudoux, the 78-year-old mayor of Aulnoye-Aymeries, as he symbolically joined the olive harvest in Taybeh. Baudoux said the attackers insulted him, kicked him and struck him with iron bars; he did not require hospital treatment. Israel condemned the attack and police pledged an investigation, while Benjamin Netanyahu alleged a smear campaign and rival Gadi Eisenkot accused the government of tolerating “Jewish terrorism.” The assault came a day after an American Washington Post photographer was beaten and amid rising violence targeting Palestinian olive harvests.

DRC United Front condemns Belgium’s double standards and the AFC/M23 regrouping under the FRN banner

The DRC United Front criticizes Belgium for restoring diplomatic relations with Rwanda on September 22, 2026, despite Kigali’s alleged support for the AFC/M23. It condemns the regrouping announced on October 12 around Joseph Kabila, Corneille Nangaa, Bertrand Bisimwa and Sultani Makenga under the FRN banner, warning that violence against civilians could continue. The group also denounces Belgian media reports linking money-laundering raids to President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and his family, although prosecutors had not publicly identified anyone involved. It calls for an international response and for the ICC prosecutor to examine a communication filed on September 16, 2026.
