CAS overrules CAF: CR Belouizdad match postponed 24 hours before kickoff
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ordered CAF to postpone indefinitely the two-legged second preliminary-round tie between AS Douanes and CR Belouizdad, whose first leg was scheduled for October 17, 2026, in Nouakchott. The order follows Hafia FC’s appeal against CAF’s decision to replay its first-round return match against AS Douanes after the Mauritanian club failed to appear in Conakry on September 11. CAS said CAF had not explained its force majeure ruling and had not responded to Hafia’s internal appeal. If Hafia wins the final ruling, it could be awarded the tie by forfeit and face CR Belouizdad instead of AS Douanes.
