2027: Gabam-led SDP picks Akeem Atanda as presidential candidate

The Shehu Gabam-led Social Democratic Party (SDP) has elected Abimbola Akeem Atanda as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections during the 2026 National Convention/Presidential Primary. The election was conducted via a voice vote by delegates from the thirty-six states and the Federal Capital Territory. The SDP also suspended the National Working Committee led by Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe and other members for actions deemed inconsistent with the party's principles.
