2027: Labour Party says it met INEC nomination deadline, dismisses contrary reports

The Labour Party (LP) has denied reports alleging that it failed to upload the names of its presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the close of the nomination portal for the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued in Abuja, the party's National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, said the candidates' particulars were uploaded on July 10, 2026, four days before the July 14 deadline set by INEC. The LP dismissed the reports as false and misleading, urging its members and the public to disregard them, insisting that the party complied with nomination requirements within the stipulated timeline. INEC is expected to publish the final list of validly nominated candidates in accordance with its election timetable.
