A public affairs analyst, Abdullahi Muhammad, has urged Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf to suspend large gatherings in the state to prevent political violence ahead of the 2027 general elections. Muhammad warned that recent ‘yan daba-related violence threatens lives and the electoral process. The call comes amid tensions after Governor Yusuf defected from the NNPP to the APC, causing a rift with his former political godfather Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who is now the vice-presidential candidate of the NNDP alongside Peter Obi.

FCC warns MDAs against recruitment without approval

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has warned Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) against conducting recruitment, promotions or other personnel-related exercises without the Commission's involvement, warning violators risk sanctions.
