State Police: Tor Tiv, Ochi’Idoma demand traditional rulers’ involvement in recruitment - Daily Post Nigeria

Traditional rulers in Benue State, led by Tor Tiv Prof. James Ayatse and Ochi’Idoma Agaba-Idu Elaigwu Obagaji, called for their involvement in the recruitment, operations, and supervision of the proposed State Police. During a colloquium organized by Lawyers Alert, Ayatse emphasized that traditional authorities are closer to the people and possess valuable community knowledge that can aid in selecting reputable recruits and identifying threats. He also advocated for a clear operational framework, sufficient funding, and political neutrality to ensure the police force's effectiveness.
