Nikolai Naumov, former Lokomotiv Moscow president, warned Russia that Nigeria's team, led by Eric Chelle, should not be underestimated ahead of their upcoming friendly match, after Russia's 6-0 win over Namibia. He stated that Nigeria is a stronger team and expects a tougher game. The last encounter between Russia and Nigeria ended in a 1-1 draw in Moscow, with a goal from Tolu Arokodare canceling out Semi Ajayi's own goal.
