COP 17 Biodiversity: African Development Bank seeks to accelerate biodiversity financing

Held in Yerevan, Armenia, from October 19 to 30, 2026, COP17 is assessing progress since the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework was adopted in December 2022. The African Development Bank, whose delegation is led by Anthony Nyong, aims to turn African commitments into investments and concrete action to protect ecosystems. It will take part in Finance Day, ministerial sessions and discussions with African governments, negotiators and international partners. The bank says greater financial and technical resources are essential because African ecosystems sustain livelihoods, food and water security, climate resilience and economic growth.
