Emergency jet fuel import averts JKIA, Moi shortage

Kenya imported 30,000 tonnes of jet fuel on August 20, outside the Government-to-Government supply contract with three Gulf oil majors, to avert a shortage at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Moi International Airport in Mombasa. This decision was made after oil marketers raised concerns about dwindling stocks, exacerbated by increased demand from international airlines. Principal Secretary for Petroleum, Kello Harsama, stated that the special shipment was intended to bridge an anticipated supply gap for August.
