Manchester City is considering legal action after Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme said he would sign Erling Haaland if elected. Riquelme held up a Real shirt with Haaland's name on Spanish TV and also mentioned interest in Rodri. City denied any release clause for Haaland and threatened a lawsuit for unauthorized use of the player's image. Haaland signed a nine-and-a-half-year contract with City in January 2025.
