Over 300 Kurdish Iraqi migrants heading to the UK were kidnapped in Libya last summer by a militia, tortured, and threatened with forced organ removal. Families were demanded a $5,000 ransom, and photo evidence suggests forced operations occurred. At least one hostage died, and over 100 hostages were flown back to Iraqi Kurdistan after release in January. The smuggler Noah Aaron, who organized the journey, is serving a 10-year prison sentence in France for money laundering and smuggling.
