Surprise in Ziguinchor: Diomaye gains ground over Sonko with Seydou Sané

Seydou Sané, a former first deputy mayor of Ziguinchor and president of the Agir pour Ziguinchor (APZ) movement, announced that he was joining Kiiraay, the party of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. He said APZ would no longer exist as a separate entity and urged local Kiiraay leaders to unite against Pastef, the party led by Ousmane Sonko. Sané plans to hold a regional rally to gauge and organize support for Kiiraay. He says he wants to help secure Faye’s reelection in 2029 in the first round.
