Alleged Rapes of a Student: Two Teachers from 'Présentation de Marie' School in Yoff Imprisoned

Two teachers from the Présentation de Marie school in Yoff, Augustin Preira (39) and Christian Diatta (43), have been arrested and imprisoned for alleged rapes of a 12-year-old student. The complaint filed by the victim's father revealed sexual abuses that occurred on June 4, 2026. Christian Diatta is accused of multiple rapes of a minor under 13 by a person with authority, while Augustin Preira is charged with pedophilia and corruption of a minor. Medical examinations found no hymenal lesions or sperm traces.

The Nigerian Navy dismantled 48 illegal refinery sites and recovered approximately 4.698 million litres of stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products during the second quarter of 2026. Operations under Operation Delta Sentinel led to the interception of several vessels, including tankers MKPODU, WESTAF, and STELIOS K, linked to the theft of more than 900 metric tonnes of suspected stolen crude. Navy Director of Information Captain Abiodun Folorunsho noted that these results coincide with the NUPRC announcement that Nigeria's crude production reached 1.735 million barrels per day in June 2026, representing 104% of its OPEC quota.
