Court orders Kenya to set up complaints system for citizens in international bodies

The High Court of Kenya ordered the establishment of an effective system to receive and process complaints from citizens working in international organizations that enjoy legal immunity. This ruling follows a case filed by Shem Odongo Ochuodho, a former member of the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council, who challenged his suspension in 2022. The court emphasized that the State could not remain inactive when the rights of its citizens were at stake.
