Madagascar detains French ex-serviceman over alleged destabilisation plot

Madagascar has detained former French serviceman Guy Baret over an alleged plot to destabilise the island. Deputy Prosecutor Nomenarinera Mihamintsoa Ramanantsoa stated that Baret is in pretrial detention at Tsiafahy prison. Malagasy army officer Colonel Patrick Rakotomamonjy and other alleged accomplices are also implicated, facing charges of criminal conspiracy and spreading false information. Authorities claim the group had planned actions for April 18.
