Tropical Storm Bavi, formerly a typhoon, slammed into eastern China, prompting the evacuation of nearly 2 million people. It made landfall in Yuhuan (Zhejiang) and then Yueqing, bringing winds of 101 km/h and heavy rain. Over 1,300 trees were uprooted in Yueqing, and floodwaters blocked roads. Transport was disrupted: 684 flights and over 1,600 trains canceled in Shanghai, and 327 flights in Hangzhou.
