FCT Police Arrest NSCDC Officer Over Alleged Gunfire at Kubwa Market

Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory police arrested Onoja Samuel, a Deputy Superintendent of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), over alleged gunfire at Kubwa Market in Abuja. Security analyst Zagazola Makama said the incident occurred on October 25, 2026, after Samuel reportedly went to the market with a pistol following claims that traders had assaulted his wife. He allegedly fired several shots into the air during a confrontation; police recovered a CZ pistol and 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Samuel remains in custody and is expected to be charged after investigations, while FCT Police Commissioner Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi urged security agencies to coordinate with local police before operations.
