Provincial Veterinary Clinic Threatened by Sale of Plots on Its Kongo-Central Property

The Kongo-Central Provincial Veterinary Clinic risks losing its property as the YMCA progressively sells plots on the site. Boniface Phanzu, head of the Provincial Division of Fisheries and Livestock, says the sales are shrinking the clinic’s available space and is calling on provincial authorities to intervene. The parties concerned reportedly cite a sharing document allocating 60% of the property to the YMCA and 40% to the provincial government; Phanzu argues that public facilities should be protected and says YMCA rules may make its property inalienable. He proposes providing the YMCA with another site and reserving the remaining land for an INRB laboratory to monitor diseases transmissible between animals and humans.

Governor Fintiri relaxes curfew in Adamawa communities affected by violence

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has relaxed the curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area, allowing residents to move between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., with restrictions in force from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The change follows sustained calm and improved security after recurring land-related clashes between the Bachama and Tshobo communities. Fintiri urged residents to obey the curfew and called on local leaders, youth groups and women’s groups to promote peace and dialogue. Since July 2025, the violence has killed dozens and destroyed homes and vehicles; nine women died during protests in December 2025, and renewed clashes in March and April caused further casualties and the destruction of hundreds of houses.
