Togo-Egypt: Lomé seeks to expand trade beyond imports

Togolese Council President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé met Egypt’s new ambassador, Shahinaz Mahmoud Mohamed Abuseri, in Lomé on October 23 to discuss bilateral relations. Trade remains sharply imbalanced: in 2025, Togo imported $30.29 million worth of goods from Egypt, while its exports to that market totaled about $302,000. The two countries aim to deepen cooperation in trade, medicine, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, technology and construction.
