We welcome constructive criticism, parliament not created to keep people out - Akpabio

Nigeria's Senate President Godswill Akpabio said parliament was established to serve the people and not to shut them out of the democratic process. Speaking Tuesday at the opening of the National Assembly Open Week in Abuja, Akpabio stressed that the legislature belongs to Nigerians whose votes made its existence possible. He stated that parliament does not belong solely to elected lawmakers but to millions of Nigerians. Akpabio urged citizens to actively engage and offer constructive criticism to make parliament more effective.

The forum urged the Nigerian Union of Teachers, civil society organizations, and the international community to show the same solidarity as shown to the Oyo victims.
