Son of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas elected to top Fatah body

Yasser Abbas, son of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, secured a seat on Fatah's central committee during the movement's eighth general congress held in Ramallah. The congress had a turnout of 94.6% with 2,507 voters. Mahmoud Abbas was re-elected as head of the movement and pledged reforms within the Palestinian Authority, amid increasing international pressure to hold elections.
