Imo pensioners seek God's intervention over non-payment of arrears by state govt

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Imo State Chapter, held a thanksgiving Mass at Maria Assumpta Cathedral in Owerri, thanking God for their survival while awaiting payment of their outstanding pensions. Comrade Ike Ohaneje, Chairman of the Imo State Pension Intervention Committee, stated that pensioners have suffered due to authorities playing politics with their plight. He emphasized that pensions should be paid regardless of the approval of the budget, a stipulation that has not been adhered to in Imo State since 2003.
