Constitutional Council: Ousmane Diagne surpassed these 4 other renowned magistrates

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye appointed Ousmane Diagne as President of the Constitutional Council, succeeding the late Mamadou Badio Camara. Diagne, a former prosecutor general at the Dakar Court of Appeal, first advocate general at the Supreme Court, and Minister of Justice, was chosen over four other senior magistrates: two former first presidents of the Supreme Court, a prosecutor general, and a sitting member of the Constitutional Council. The shortlist was evaluated based on experience and knowledge of the highest courts.

He awarded N100 million in scholarships to 930 indigent undergraduate and postgraduate students from Ebonyi North Senatorial District under his foundation's annual education support programme. Nwebonyi said the initiative aims to prevent financially disadvantaged students from dropping out and increased beneficiaries from 500 to 930. The Commissioner for Women Affairs, representing the governor's wife, commended the senator for investing in education.
