The UN Joint Human Rights Office (BCNUDH) documented 464 human rights violations and abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in July 2026, affecting at least 1,081 victims, a 30% drop from June. More than 90% of the cases were recorded in conflict-affected provinces, including North Kivu (270), South Kivu (89) and Ituri (52). The office cautioned that the decline may reflect security-related limits on gathering and verifying information, including sources leaving conflict areas. It also recorded 41 conflict-related sexual violence cases affecting 76 victims and 15 violations linked to civic space.
