Geneva talks put Rwanda-DRC peace deal to the test

Officials from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda will reconvene in Geneva on September 16 and 17 to discuss the implementation of the 2025 Washington Accords. The Joint Security Coordination Mechanism (JSCM) meeting aims to assess security commitments, including the DRC's obligation to neutralize the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) and Rwanda's withdrawal of forces. The talks come amid ongoing fighting in eastern DRC, jeopardizing the peace process.
