Flooding: Why Tinubu should declare state of emergency on gully erosion in South-East - Omeire - Daily Post Nigeria

Rufus Omeire, the senatorial candidate of the Action Peoples Party for Imo West, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on gully erosion in the South-East region of Nigeria. Omeire stated that erosion has destroyed communities, roads, homes, farmlands, and public infrastructure, posing a serious threat to lives and livelihoods. He specifically highlighted the Orlu Senatorial Zone and Ideato Federal Constituency. This call comes after Tinubu approved the construction of the 150-kilometer Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Akokwa–Arondizuogu–Okigwe road.
