Rebel fighters kill at least 69 people in northeastern DR Congo

An attack by armed rebels has killed at least 69 people in Ituri province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. CODECO militiamen, claiming to protect the Lendu community, carried out attacks on several villages on April 28, following an earlier assault by the CRP against the Congolese army. Sources indicate that only 25 bodies have been buried, while several remains remain unrecovered.
