Ondo Police arrest 15 over toxic ‘monkey tail’ drink

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 15 suspects in connection with the sale of a local herbal alcoholic mixture known as 'monkey tail,' which is suspected to have caused the deaths of 30 people in the Odigbo area. Among those arrested is Oloruntoba Babatunde, alias 'Meko,' who is believed to be involved in the production of the toxic substance that may contain methanol. An enforcement operation conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department led to the arrest of 14 additional individuals, including sellers and consumers.
