President William Ruto announced a Ksh2 billion top-up to the National Infrastructure Fund (NIF) following the Treasury's receipt of Ksh103.45 billion from the partial sale of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC). During a meeting with Kirinyaga County leaders, he stated that these funds will serve as seed capital to finance major infrastructure projects, including the construction of new facilities at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Construction of the airport infrastructure is set to begin in June 2026.
