‘Not welcome’: How Sweden’s far right took over Stockholm Central Station

Neira Tokalija, a 39-year-old therapist, felt a familiar sense of fear upon seeing the slogans of Sweden's far-right party, the Sweden Democrats (SD), plastered across Stockholm Central Station. The party spent about $100,000 on a campaign ahead of the general election on September 13, featuring messages like 'If you commit crimes, you’re not welcome'. Additionally, SD ran provocative ads on buses encouraging refugees to return home with an increased repatriation grant of approximately $36,000 per adult.
