The Ile-Ife community has called on the Osun State Government to intervene in renewed tensions with Modakeke over the purported installation of a monarch for Okuu-Omoni. Femi Oyeyinka, president of the Great Ife Movement, expressed concerns during a press conference, stating that the process leading to Aderoju Adewale Onisaka's approval as Oba did not comply with Ife's traditional laws and customs. He also condemned leaflets circulated from Modakeke claiming ancestral ownership of lands in the area.
