Education Ministry Rolls Out KEMIS, Makes Registration Mandatory for Capitation

The Kenyan Ministry of Education has mandated that all schools register on the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) to receive government funding. Principal Secretary Julius Bitok warned that schools not captured in the system will miss capitation for the third term. KEMIS will integrate all learning institutions, including public and private schools, universities, TVETs, and agencies like KNEC. Over 8,000 secondary schools have already enrolled since January 2026.
