Chad: Several opposition leaders to Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno arrested

Nine leaders of the Political Actors Consultation Group (GCAP) were arrested and placed in police custody in Chad. This arrest comes as the GCAP had planned a protest march on May 2, which was banned by the Minister of Public Security. The minister also announced the dissolution of this platform, which the opposition has labeled authoritarian, contesting recent constitutional revisions that favor Mahamat Idriss Déby's continued hold on power.
