Court ruling: NDC heads to Appeal Court, insists it remains registered

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) rejected Friday's ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi, which set aside an earlier judgment that had compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register it as a political party. The party insists it remains legally recognized and will immediately appeal to the Court of Appeal. National chairman Senator Moses Cleopas stated that the ruling neither directs its deregistration nor invalidates its candidates' nominations for the 2027 general elections, calling the decision legally flawed as the court had become functus officio.
