“Why I left the Senegal team”: Ismail Jakobs explains his reasons for retiring from international football

Ismail Jakobs has announced his retirement from international football with Senegal so he can devote more time to his club career, family and personal life. In his farewell message, he reflects on his growth since joining the national team as a young man and thanks Senegal, its supporters and his teammates for welcoming him. Born and raised in Germany to a Senegalese father, he says representing Senegal fulfilled both his own dream and his father’s. Jakobs says his bond with Senegal remains strong and hopes to continue contributing to the country away from the pitch.
