41-Year-Old Nurse Dies During Buttock Aesthetic Surgery in Colombia

Paula Andrea Beltran Sandoval, a 41-year-old Colombian nurse's aide living in New York, died on June 18 during surgery to remove biopolymers from her buttocks in Colombia. The procedure was progressing normally for about an hour before she suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite 40 minutes of resuscitation, she did not survive. Biopolymers, illegally injected substances, are known for severe complications. An investigation is underway.
