Armed voter removed from a Mitchells Plain voting station

During the November 4 local elections, police removed an armed, disruptive voter from a polling station in Mitchells Plain, Western Cape provincial electoral officer Michael Hendrickse said. The Electoral Commission also dismissed an employee who reported for duty under the influence of alcohol in Mossel Bay on Monday. By 12:30 p.m., more than 824,000 of the province’s 3.5 million voters had cast ballots, and all 1,623 voting stations were open despite some delays caused by technical glitches.
