Ebola: ACAJ calls for audit over opaque management of allocated funds

The Association for Access to Justice (ACAJ) is asking the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) to audit funds allocated to the fight against Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its president, Georges Kapiamba, cited Africa CDC Director-General Dr Kaseya’s statement that 700 million of the 926.66 million dollars disbursed by donors could not be traced. Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba said the funds were paid directly to international implementing partners and that the government had traced only 220 million dollars. ACAJ also welcomed 50 million dollars raised domestically and transferred to the health ministry.

TUMAINI uses ring vaccination for high-risk contacts and was officially launched in Bunia by Ituri’s military governor, Major General Gaby Kasongo Mulumba.
