FRSC blames speeding for Otedola Bridge tanker fire

The FRSC Lagos Sector Command attributed the crash of a diesel tanker to speeding after it plunged into the underpass beneath Otedola Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and caught fire at about 4:10 p.m. Monday. Two adult men were injured and taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre; the initial report recorded no fatalities. FRSC personnel, state firefighters, LASTMA, police and other emergency responders worked together to contain the blaze and secure the scene. Sector Commander Kehinde Hamzat urged motorists to slow down near emergency scenes and warned the public not to approach burning tankers.
