A police inspector struck by lightning while on duty in Nigeria

Nigerian police inspector Abdulkadir Garba, nicknamed 'Buratai', died after being struck by lightning in Maiduguri, Borno State, on May 7, 2026. He was regulating vehicle parking when the incident occurred, and while his colleague Wazani Adamu survived, Garba succumbed to partial burns. The Borno police spokesperson praised his commitment and sense of duty.
